I’m trying to amp my
reading this year. Here is some of my recent readings and what I think about
those books.
Fiction:
·
Cinder By Marissa Mayer: 1st book of
Lunar chronicles. Sci-fi thriller loosely based on fairytales. This book left me wanting more. I
finished next 2 books “Cress” and “Winter”. Writer dragged "Winter" a bit.
She could have finished the book while the suspense lasted.
·
A Man called Ove by Fredrik Backman : This book reminded me of Himu by Humyun Ahmed. Feel good book.

·
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins: Too mellow
dramatic. Not as much thriller as I expected Good read for a rainy afternoon.
Non- Fiction:
·
Brag! The art of tooting your own horn w/o
blowing it : Great book on Networking
·
Leadership and Self Deception: Conversational style
corporate leadership book. Good content can be applied to personal life.
·
Rich, Bitch! : Personal finance book focused on money management tips for young woman. Little cheese but good content.
·
Power of When: Time management book based on personality type. Lot of interesting insight. However, I'm yet to apply them in real life :(.
·
Why not Me? By actress Mindy Kaling. Very unorganized and superficial content.

·
What are you hungry for by Deepak Chopra: This one is on eastern spices and healthy eating. Good content , but writer went overboard by telling eastern spices are solution for all your life problem.

·
Foodist: Very snobbish take on food and health.
Didn’t resonate with me that much
· Originals: How Non-Conformists Move the World By Adam Grant:
I ‘m a huge fan of Shryl Sandburg. She is one of my biggest professional girl
crush. She endorsed this book a lot. I had high expectations but the content didn’t resonate with me that
much.
The Happiest Mommy You Know By Brown, Genevieve Shaw: Great book for any Parents , how to prioritize life, kids, careers.
